105 Libyans evacuated from Sudan in coordination with Saudi authorities

The Libyan embassy in Khartoum, Sudan, announced on Monday the successful evacuation of 105 Libyan nationals: diplomatic mission staff and their families, students, and employees of Libyan institutions operating in Sudan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the evacuation process took place via a ship, departing from Port Sudan to the city of Jeddah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The foreign ministry added that the evacuation process took place in coordination between the Libyan and Saudi embassies in Sudan, adding that there would be a process of deporting Libyans on a plane back home in the near future.

The Government of National Unity hailed the role of Saudi Arabia in supporting the evacuation operations and facilitating the return of the Libyan community home through Saudi territory, in addition to coordinating the evacuation of Arab and foreign nationals from Khartoum to their countries.
