Menfi discusses political settlement efforts with the British Ambassador

Presidential Council President Mohamed Menfi affirmed the Council’s keenness to continue consultations with all parties to reach a comprehensive political settlement that leads to free and fair elections.

Menfi added, during his meeting with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom, Martin Longden, that the forum for reconciliation will be a new beginning for tolerance and amnesty among Libyans.

For his part, Ambassador Longden renewed his country’s support for the Supreme Finance Committee as a tool that ensures the fair distribution of resources with disclosure, transparency and rationalization of spending.

The two parties also discussed in Tripoli the latest political developments and how to push them to lead to fair elections as soon as possible, in addition to the progress made in the national reconciliation project, and the preparations for the forum that will be held in April of this year.
