Italian Airlines returns to Tripoli at the end of next month

The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdulhamid Dbeibah, held talks with the Italian ambassador to Libya, Gianluca Alberini, on the economic cooperation between the two countries and the follow-up of efforts to open new air routes between Libya and Italy, especially after the resumption of direct flights between the two countries last month.

The Italian ambassador confirmed that Italian airlines will launch their flights towards Tripoli at the end of November as part of the company’s winter schedule.

According to the GNU, the meeting also discussed the invitation from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to Dbeibah to attend the Africa-Italy conference scheduled to be held in Rome in November, which will serve to strengthen Libyan-Italian relations.

The meeting also addressed the follow-up procedures for holding a meeting at the level of the interior ministers of both countries in Tripoli to discuss the results of the recent meetings in Rome regarding the issue of irregular migration and its regulation mechanisms, according to the government.
