5+5 JMC to convene in Sirte next week

The Libyan 5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC) is going to convene next week in Sirte in the presence of the UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, according to the JMC’s member Mukhtar Al-Nagasa who spoke to Libya Al-Ahrar TV on Thursday.

The member of the JMC said that the meeting in Sirte will be held over two days on January 15 and 16. He didn’t mention any other details about the agenda of the meeting.

The JMC last met in October 2022 in Sirte and agreed to form subcommittees to map out the locations of the armed groups and implement the deportation of the mercenaries as per the ceasefire agreement.

The 5+5 JMc previously met in Egypt, Tunisia and Spain from May to August 2022 respectively and reviewed the methods of consolidating the ceasefire agreement that was signed in Geneva in October 2020.
