Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah stressed the need to study the obstacles that may be faced when implementing the Amsaid-Ras Jadir highway project with the aim of launching it as soon as possible.
Due to its strategic importance to Libya, Dbeibah pointed out the need to complete the project as soon as possible, revealing that the Italian government will bear the full costs of constructing this road.
This came during a meeting with the Implementation and Management Authority of the Amsaid-Ras Jedir highway, to follow up on the activation of the agreement signed with Italy to implement it with a length of 1,700 kilometers.
During the meeting, which was attended by the Minister of Transport, Mohammed Al-Shahoubi, Dbeibah was briefed on the general situation of the project and the results reached by the joint committees from the Libyan and Italian sides.
Libya signed a friendship and partnership treaty with Italy that included the implementation of the coastal highway, extending from Libya’s eastern border to its western border, in 2008.
