The acting mayor of Zliten, Mohammed Al-Akkari, announced that the committee tasked with assessing the damage caused by the explosion of the ammunition depot in Zliten has recorded damage to around 30 homes and a refrigerator store, in addition to a health center.
In the same context, the director of the municipality’s press office, Ismail Al-Jawsmi, stated that investigations into the explosion were still ongoing.
On the morning of July 26, the residents of Zliten woke up to the sound of a series of explosions that lasted for several minutes, resulting from the explosion of a weapons depot in one of the military headquarters.
Zliten Municipal Council member Mustafa Al-Bahbah told Libya Al-Ahrar that the explosion occurred at 4 am, at the headquarters of the “Al-Ayan” battalion located between residential neighborhoods, and the sounds of the explosions continued for several minutes, without knowing the cause.
The director of the Emergency Medicine and Support Center in Zliten, Walid Al-Qahwaji, indicated that the explosion caused 6 injuries ranging from minor to moderate and that they have received treatment at the Zliten Medical Center.
