Amid general mobilization .. HCS condemns the movements of Haftar’s forces and calls for readiness

The High Council of State (HCS) condemned, in the strongest terms, the military movements of Khalifa Haftar’s forces in the southwestern region of Libya over the past two days.

The Council considered these movements a clear attempt to increase influence and control over important strategic areas, stressing its rejection of these illegal actions that take place outside the official and legitimate frameworks represented by the Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army and the relevant military authorities.

The statement described the movements as threatening the collapse of the ceasefire agreement and the return of armed conflict, which could negatively affect efforts to unify the military institution and interupt the political process.

The statement called on the Presidential Council in its capacity as the Supreme Commander of the Army, the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity in his capacity as Minister of Defense, and the Chief of Staff of the Libyan Army to raise the state of alert and readiness to confront any potential danger resulting from these illegal movements.

The HCS called on the United Nations Mission in Libya and the international community to take a clear position regarding these movements, demanding an explicit condemnation of them, as they represent a direct threat to the ceasefire agreement and efforts to unify the military institution
