Al-Mishri and Takala: Presidency of HCS is still unresolved

Khalid Al-Mishri said he had temporarily suspended work as the “Head of High Council of State (HCS)” to comply with Al-Sawani Court’s ruling awaiting the final verdict on the case.

Al-Mishri told Libya Al-Ahrar TV channel on Tuesday that Al-Sawani Court’s ruling didn’t give his rival Mohammed Takala the right to become the Head of the HCS.

He hoped that the Court would quickly resolve the issue with a final verdict. He said he would comply with the final verdict even if it said that the HCS presidential election session had been invalid.

In the meantime, Takala told Libya Al-Ahrar TV that resolving the issue of the presidency of the HCS would be through holding a new election session between 11 and 13 November. He confirmed that he would accept the results of the session.

The statements by Al-Mishri and Takala came after Al-Sawani Court of First Instance had rejected Al-Mishri’s complaint against Takala and ruled that the verdict of South Tripoli Appeals Court – which said that the HCS election session was invalid – would remain in effect.
