Al-Mishri slams UNSMIL for ‘violations’ in Geneva political talks

The Head of the High Council of State (HCS) Khalid Al-Mishri has condemned the violations of the UNSMIL as it had contacted HCS members individually and invited them to attend Geneva political talks, adding that no one of the members had responded to the UNSMIL.

Al-Mishri said on Monday that the HCS wants to end the ongoing crisis and take Libya to a phase of stability and security.

He reiterated that there’s no military solution to the Libyan crisis, which can end only by political settlement, calling for real sanctions on the ones hindering the dialogue and those who are not respecting the UN resolutions.

“The attendees of Geneva political talks have no excuse but to leave after Khalifa Haftar’s militias have violated the truce and attempted to advance on different frontlines on last Friday.”

On February 26, the UN held the political talks for the Libyan warring parties in the presence of women and independent figures in the absence of High Council of State and House of Representatives’ delegates.
