Al-Sarraj: Ceasefire in Libya came to shelve dreams of grabbing power by force

The Head of the Libyan Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj has described the ceasefire agreement as a step forward to avoid any more bloodshed in Libya, adding in a telephone speech to Libyans on Alahrar TV that accepting the ceasefire was a way to save the social fabric of the nation.

Al-Sarraj added that the Government of National Accord (GNA) will never let the sacrifices of the martyrs be a subject of negotiations and will do all it can to fulfill the dream of Libyans for a civilian state.

“We’re ready, however; to resume military operations to repel the aggressor in case any violations to the ceasefire take place.” He added.

Meanwhile, Al-Sarraj assured Libyans that the GNA won’t provide concessions on the national constants, saying the ceasefire is a way to put an end to the dreams of grabbing power by force and to the hopes of bringing back to Libya the rule of military men and oppression.
