Al-Sarraj, HoR members discuss forming Libyan national unity government

The Head of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al-Sarraj, has discussed the formation of a national unity government with a number of House of Representatives’ members in Tripoli.

The media office of Al-Sarraj said the national unity government that was proposed would help pave the way and create a secure environment for holding national elections on December 24, 2021.

Al-Sirraj and the House of Representatives’ (HoR) members also agreed to form a team that would coordinate communications between the two HoR headquarters and the Presidential Council.

The attendees of the meeting, meanwhile; said they were optimistic about holding presidential and parliamentary elections under the auspices of the United Nations, reiterating the need to hold elections on Dcember 24, 2021, wishing that all parties would commit to the outcomes.

The meeting in Tripoli also discussed the economic status of the country as well as unifying the dinar exchange rate and the impact of freezing oil revenues on the Libyan state’s budget.
