Al-Sarraj urges ICC to send team to investigate Haftar’s war crimes in Libya

The Head of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord (GNA) Fayez Al-Sarraj has welcomed the announcement of the International Criminal Court (ICC) that it will expand its investigations in Libya to include war crimes committed by Khalifa Haftar’s militias.

These remarks came, according to the spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Mohammed Al-Giblawi, in a letter to the ICC by Al-Sarraj on Sunday.

The letter says that impunity has encouraged Haftar’s militias to commit more crimes, in a barbaric manner and in an unprecedented way, which has not happened since “Nazi era and apartheid crimes in Rwanda and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Al-Giblawi said Al-Sirraj urged in the letter the ICC to urgently send a team of investigators to probe the crimes committed by Haftar’s militias, vowing to take all needed measures to facilitate the work of the team.
