The Head of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj, and the UN acting envoy to Libya, Stephanie Williams, met Saturday in Rome to discuss ways to push forward the Libyan political dialogue, UNSMIL said in a statement.
UNSMIL added that the meeting in Rome came ahead of the meeting of the Advisory Committee of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF), which is scheduled for next week in Geneva.
Meanwhile, Williams welcomed Al-Sarraj’s commitment and support to the UN-facilitated dialogue process to lead the country towards elections on 24 December 2021, according to the statement.
Al-Sarraj arrived in Rome a couple of days ago and held meetings with Italian officials, including the Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, with whom he discussed the latest political developments and the dialogue tracks, among other issues of joint interest.
