The head of the General Authority for Search and Identification of Missing Persons, Kamal Al-Siwi, confirmed that all the bodies that were buried randomly in Derna had been recovered.
Al-Siwi added, in a statement with Libya Al-Ahrar, that forensic reports were issued after the DNA samples were taken and that the bodies were reburied in the Daniel Martyrs’ Cemetery.
Al-Siwi explained that the Authority’s laboratories received more than 5,000 bone samples in addition to blood samples and reference samples from the families of the victims, pointing out that they are waiting for operating materials to work on all these samples and match them.
Al-Siwi said that they have not yet completed the genetic database, pointing out that they have completed 75% of the database from the year 2011, which includes more than 17 thousand DNA samples.
