A high-level delegation from the US military command, led by Deputy Commander of US Africa Command (AFRICOM), Lieutenant General John Brennan and Admiral Ronald Foy, Commander of US Special Operations Command in Africa, visited the US Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires Brent Misrata on Wednesday.
The American delegation met with military leaders from the city, including the Commander of the Central Military Region, Lieutenant General Muhammad Musa, the Commander of the Counter-Terrorism Force, Major General Muhammad Zain, the Commander of the Misrata Air College, Major General Muhammad Al-Qusaibat, and the Commander of the 53rd Brigade, Ahmed Hashem.
During the visit, the American delegation affirmed the United States’ support for the Libyan efforts to preserve Libya’s sovereignty and unify the military institutions.
The two parties also agreed to enhance cooperation in the field of counter-terrorism and border security, in addition to increasing educational opportunities and professional development for officers from all over Libya.
This visit comes after the visit made by the American delegation to Tripoli and its meeting with Prime Minister Abdelhamid Dbeibah and Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Mohamed Al-Haddad.
