The Ministry of Oil and Gas announced that its Minister, Mohamed Aoun, will resume his duties at the ministry’s office, after lifting the precautionary suspension, completing investigations against him.
On May 13, the head of the Administrative Control Authority, Abdullah Qaderbuh, issued a decree to lift the precautionary suspension of Aoun, following a previous decree on March 25 to suspend the minister from work for reasons and requirements in the interest of the investigation.
Qadirbuh’s decree said that the decision to suspend the minister at that time came based on a memorandum from the Director of the General Department of Investigation, and the course of the investigation that revealed the presence of legal violations.
During the past months, the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdulhamid Dbeibah, had issued a decree to assign Undersecretary Khalifa Rajab Abdul Sadiq to manage the ministry’s duties.
