Bashagha submits candidacy to replace Dbeibah as Libya Prime Minister

The ex-Minister of Interior, Fathi Bashagha, and another candidate, Khalid Al-Bibas, have received the most recommendations by House of Representatives’ (HoR) members for the position of Prime Minister.

The HoR Speaker, Aqila Saleh, said the two candidates’ bids will be sent to the High Council of State for recommendation and on Thursday, the HoR will vote to elect one to head a new government that replaces current Prime Minister, Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah, and modifies Dbeibah’s cabinet.

This new development came on Monday in a session allocated for the decision on the roadmap committee recommendations for the upcoming stage in the Libyan political process and for the candidacy presentation of Prime Minister incumbents to replace current PM Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah.

The HoR has approved a new roadmap for the political process, setting elections date in 14 months from the date of constitutional declaration amendment.
