Brega meeting results in agreement on unified expenditure policy across Libya

The Ministry of Finance of the Government of National Accord (GNA) has confirmed agreeing on devising the final draft of the 2021 budget of the country ahead of presenting it to the upcoming national unity government.

The agreement came in a meeting for the financial committee tasked with devising the 2021 unified budget of the country. The meeting was held in eastern Libyan town – Brega – in the presence of officials from the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) and east-based Interim Government.

The meeting was attended by GNA Foreign Minister, Mohammed Sayala, Finance Minister, Faraj Bumatari, as well as Interim Government’s Deputy Minister of Finance and the assistant governor of the Central Bank of Libya.

The Ministry of Finance said the meeting reiterated the need to allocate a unified expenditure policy and devise a final budget draft in the coming days to be presented to the to-be-elected  national unity government.
