Brega oil marketing company says fuel shortage linked to late entry of tankers

The spokesman for the Brega Oil Marketing Company, Ahmed Al-Masallati, attributed the fuel shortage to the delay in the entry of tankers to the ports, which he considered to be beyond the control of the National Oil Corporation and the Brega Company.

Al-Masallati added in a statement to Libya Al-Ahrar that the Brega Company was forced to rely on the fuel stock in its warehouses, and to reduce the daily distribution quantities until the arrival of tankers loaded with fuel and expected to enter the ports on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.

The spokesman estimated that the tanker “MT Yasha” would enter the port of Misurata and the tanker “Anwar Africa” would enter the port of Tripoli, each carrying about 30.000 tons of fuel.

Pumping and distributing fuel to gas stations in the eastern region resumed, after a tanker loaded with about 30.000 tons docked at the Benghazi port Monday evening, according to Al-Masallati.

As for the fuel stock at the Sabha oil depot, Al-Masallati said it was sufficient and reassuring, and was estimated at about 900.000 liters.
