Burkan Al-Ghadab Operation forces respond to Haftar’s ceasefire violations in south Tripoli

Libya’s Burkan Al-Ghadab Operation of the Government of National Accord (GNA) said it had targeted three artillery launchers and a gathering of infantry forces from Khalifa Haftar’s militias in southern Tripoli as they repeated their violations of the ceasefire.

The spokesman for the operation, Mohammed Gununu, said they have instructions to deal with any attacks with force and to respond to the source of fire when Haftar’s militias violate the ceasefire.

Meanwhile, the commander of the Sirte-Jufra Operations Room Ibrahim Baytelmal has confirmed that uneasy calm is still prevailing on frontlines in the vicinity of Abu Grein.

Baytelmal told Libya Alahrar TV on Sunday that the Government of National Accord’s forces were on alert and ready to repel any attacks by Khalifa Haftar’s militias.

Baytelmal also reiterated that the Burkan Al-Ghadab Operation forces and all units under the command of the GNA are committed to the ceasefire.

In the meantime, the Sirte-Jufra Operations Room thwarted on Friday an attempt by Haftar’s militias to advance on the sea frontline in Abu Grein, pushing them back after hours-long clashes.

“Haftar’s militias fired several Grad rockets on our positions and that obliged us to respond to the source of the attack by rockets as well. No damage was reported.” Baytelmal told Alahrar TV.
