Calm descends on Tripoli after a night of sporadic clashes

Intermittent clashes swept through a number of neighborhoods in the Libyan capital Tripoli after midnight between members of the Special Deterrence Force (SDF) and Brigade 444.

So far, no official authorities have announced any casualties or injuries following the clam that has prevailed in the early morning of Monday in Tripoli.

The clashes extended to Tripoli suburbs of Salah Al-Deen and Ain Zara before the two sides had agreed to pull out all armored and ordinary vehicles from the clashes’ zone.

Sources have told Libya Alahrar TV that the clashes erupted after a state of tension that followed the kidnapping of a Brigade 444’s senior commander near Tripoli port on Sunday.

In the meantime, the Ambulance and Emergency Apparatus said its cadres were on high alert across Tripoli, holding the two warring sides for the safety of civilians.

The Apparatus said a civilian was injured by a shrapnel due to the clashes in Ain Zara area in the suburbs of Tripoli, and an ambulance vehicles was damaged.

Tripoli University announced the suspension of studies and exams as well as administrative work for Monday following the clashes.
