The Head of the Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dbeibah, stressed China’s role in the reconstruction taking place in Libya and the need to focus on resuming suspended projects and contracts with Chinese companies.
This came during the opening of the first Chinese-Libyan Economic Forum, in Beijing, under the slogan “Libya-China partners in development and reconstruction,” in the presence of 84 Chinese companies working in various fields.
Dbeibah pointed out that there are currently more than 23,000 Chinese workers in Libya, after their number was only 5,000 during the past few years, according to what was reported by government media.
During the visit, Dbeibah discussed with Chinese officials several files, most notably; the return of Chinese companies to work in Libya, overcoming the difficulties they face, the return of the Chinese embassy to work in Tripoli and the activation of its commercial department.
One of the most important recommendations of the forum was the necessity of continuing communication between Libya and China, politically and technically, to address the difficulties and problems facing the full return of Chinese companies, and agreeing to hold the second forum in the capital Tripoli, next October, according to government media.
