Dbeibah presents to Norland his views regarding the Bathily dialogue initiative

The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dbeibah, stressed the necessity of ending the transitional stages directly by holding general elections.

During his meeting with the US Special Envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, Dbeibah reiterated his refusal to enter into any parallel tracks.

Dbeibah added that the goal of his government’s participation in the meetings that UN envoy Abdullah Bathily intends to hold is to find a fair constitutional legal basis that will enable elections to be held.

According to the government press office, Norland and Dbeibah discussed the reconstruction of Derna and the challenges facing the actual implementation.

Richard Norland and the Charge d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Libya, Jeremy Brent, held a series of meetings with local parties, including the President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Menfi and his two deputies, Musa Al-Koni and Abdullah Al-Lafi.
