Dbeibah says he will hand power only to elected government

The Libyan Prime Minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, has stressed that his government will continue with its mandate and will only hand over power to an elected government, saying any talks about the handover of power and the entry to Tripoli of a new government (Bashagha’s government) is merely a delusion.

Dbeibah has not specified when elections would be held but said that there were two parties in Libya: “One is with holding elections and the other aims to extend transitional periods in the country”.

He also said, in a meeting for his government’s cabinet on Tuesday, that those who are hindering the solution process of the Libyan conflict should resort to elections and seize the opportunity, saying what the House of Representatives (HoR) decided for a new executive authority “is something from the past”.
