The First Deputy Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR), Fawzi Al-Nuwairi, said Tuesday that an agreement was reached to unify the two competing seats in the country’s parliament following a meeting in the capital Tripoli.
Al-Nuwairi said the presidency of the Libyan HoR met on Tuesday in Tripoli and agreed to unify the parliament.
The deputy speaker of the HoR did not give further details on the agreement or who had attended the meeting.
The HoR met in full quorum earlier in March for the first time in years and voted to approve the Government of National Unity to lead Libya to decisive parliamentary and presidential elections on December 24, 2021.
