Egypt raises entry fee for Libyans via land crossing to $200

Egypt has risen the entry fee to $200 via the border crossing of Salloum that connects it with Libya, according to a statement by locals in Tobruk city.

The locals said in a statement they were very disappointed by the new measures of the Egyptian government, reiterating that the people of the two countries “have well-rooted ties and such a treatment is not good.”

Tobruk locals called on the relevant authorities in Libya to take action regarding the new entry fees slapped on Libyans by Egypt, urging for reactivating the transport agreements signed in 1990 between Libya and Egypt.

In April 2023, Egypt made some additions on entry fees for Libyans travelling via the land border crossing of Al-Salloum.
