El Sisi stresses to Libyan PM importance of holding elections in December

The Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El Sisi, has reiterated his country’s support and respect for Libya’s sovereignty and unity, rejecting all types of foreign interventions in the Libyan domestic affairs.

El Sisi hailed in his meeting with the Libyan Prime Minister, Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah, the efforts of the Government of National Unity in improving people’s living conditions and expressed trust in Libyans’ ability to overcome challenges to build their country and achieve stability.

The Egyptian President also applauded the issuance of the elections law by the House of Representatives (HoR) ahead of holding elections on time next December, reiterating Cairo’s readiness to provide all necessary assistance to help Libya prepare for elections.

Meanwhile, Dbeibah said his government looks forward to boosting bilateral relations with Egypt in all fields and supporting Egyptian investments in Libya, reiterating the importance of transferring Egyptian expertise in reconstruction and development to Libya.

It’s worth mentioning that Debibah arrived in Egypt to attend the High Joint Libyan-Egyptian Committee meetings in Cairo to sign agreements and MoUs in cooperation and reconstruction projects as well as in other projects related to different fields of cooperation between Libya and Egypt.
