The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, has reiterated the European Union’s (EU) support for the Government of National Unity (GNU) in Libya to establish peace and stability and hold elections on time, adding in a meeting Saturday in Tripoli with the Prime Minister, Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah, that all of the EU states see eye to eye in this support.
Michel arrived in Tripoli Sunday morning and met with the new executive authority officials, including Dbeibah, Foreign Minister Najla Al-Mangoush and Head of Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi.
Dbeibah hauled the EU’s role in supporting Libya’s stability starting from Berlin Conference to other areas in which the bloc called for ending the conflict in Libya, reiterating the importance of Libya-EU partnership and cooperation in issues of joint interest and the need of EU’s support to Libya in the energy sector.
