Foreign Policy: Russia’s Wagner hindering Europe’s use of Libya’s energy

Foreign Policy magazine said Saturday that Russian Wagner Group’s situation in Libya allows Moscow to block any future European effort to take advantage of the Libyan energy potential as an alternative to reducing reliance on Russian gas.

The American magazine added in an article that the presence of Wagner Group in Libya puts the Kremlin in a position of having a pressure card in the negotiations and makes it a threat to the southern flank of NATO.

“Especially since many of the oil facilities are equipped with military infrastructure, which gives Russia a strategic position to pressure Europe that is awaiting an imminent energy crisis in winter.” Foreign Policy reported.
