Former UK ambassador to Libya says Haftar’s militias ignore ceasefire calls

The former British ambassador to Libya Peter Millett said on Twitter that Khalifa Haftar’s militias had once again turned a blind eye to the call for ceasefire in the country.

Millett said that this behavior by Haftar and his militias had left tragic results for innocent Libyan citizens.

“There is absolutely no excuse that these (Haftar’s) attacks are in any way justified. More steps are needed to sanction the perpetrators.” Millett added.

This comes after indiscriminate shelling by Haftar’s militias on different civilian neighborhoods in Tripoli have caused many casualties over the last few days, the last of which was an attack on the historic Old Town of Tripoli (Medina).
