A tripartite statement supporting Libya’s sovereignty and rejecting foreign interference

The final statement of the first consultative meeting between Libya, Tunisia and Algeria affirmed its complete rejection of foreign interference in Libyan affairs and its support for efforts aimed at organizing elections in a way that preserves Libya’s unity, security and stability.

The final statement stressed adherence to the independence of national decision-making and non-interference in internal affairs, and the pivotal role of Libya’s neighboring countries in supporting the authorities towards restoring stability and reconstruction.

The statement also called for the need for unified positions, consultation and coordination to strengthen security in the region and to ensure stability.

Regarding border security, the attendees agreed on the need to support the countries of the region, protect their national sovereignty and enhance cooperation with them at all economic and development levels, in addition to deepening consultation on regional security issues such as countering terrorism and human trafficking.

The three countries condemned the violations and crimes of genocide committed against the Palestinian people, renewing the urgent call for an immediate cessation of the Israeli occupation’s aggression, and the acceptance of full membership of the State of Palestine in the United Nations.
