Germany renews political, economic support for Libya

The Libyan Minister of Economy, Mohammed Al-Huweij, discussed on Tuesday with the German ambassador to Libya, Michael Ohnmacht, the challenges facing German companies wishing to return to Libya to resume work.

During the meeting in Tripoli, the German ambassador reiterated his country’s economic and political support for Libya.

In the meantime, Al-Huweij said Libya was keen on paving the way for the return of German companies, especially those working in energy, infrastructure and health sectors, to Libya by providing them with an investment-friendly environment.

The Libyan Economy Minister called for resuming work of the German embassy in Tripoli and easing visa requirements for Libyans.

Ohnmacht reiterated support for the country through UN envoy Abdoulaye Bathily to reach parliamentary and presidential elections.
