The Government of National Unity (GNU) announced the launch of a new system to accurately monitor diesel consumption to prevent smuggling by monitoring its distribution from the ports until its endpoints.
This came during a meeting held by the committee formed by the Prime Minister’s decree to discuss the fuel regulation and smuggling prevention system submitted by Al-Namaa Oil Investments Company.
Government spokesman Mohamed Hamouda confirmed to Libya Al-Ahrar that there is a proposal to expand this system to include gasoline as well. The company’s plan included providing all fuel stations with the necessary equipment.
The Audit Bureau presented a presentation clarifying the observations on the fuel file for the year 2023, and the necessity of installing the system in all distribution stations.
It was agreed during the meeting to implement the first phase of the project regarding following up on the distribution of diesel to major consumers, as it represents 60% of the total fuel supplied, to ensure the organization of its distribution at all stages.
