In a significant development, the Minister of Sports in the Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdul Shafie Al-Juwifi, held a crucial meeting with Suhail Boucheiha, the head of the Darnes Sports Club’s steering committee. The meeting was convened to address the pressing issues faced by the club in the wake of recent flooding.
Adel Al-Ojli, a member of the Football Union’s Board of Directors, was also present at the meeting. The attendees deliberated on the feasibility of discontinuing the suspension of the club’s activities. This would be contingent on the ministry’s pledge to create conducive conditions for the club and provisionally relocate its operations to Al-Bayda City.
The ministry is expected to provide training fields and an appropriate administrative headquarters. Furthermore, it has committed to allocating a new plot in Derna city for constructing a state-of-the-art, fully integrated headquarters for the club.
This initiative aims to expedite the process and assist the city’s sports youth in reviving their club and resuming their activities. The move underscores the government’s commitment to fostering sports and supporting local clubs.
