Guterres condemns Haftar’s recent attacks on Tripoli, urges for upholding Berlin commitments

The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has strongly condemned the random shelling of Khalifa Haftar’s militias on Tripoli’s civilian area and Mitiga Airport.

In a televised statement, Guterres stressed the need to protect civilians at all times in line with the International Humanitarian Law, according to his spokesperson.

Guterres called for immediate ceasefire and halt of hostilities, urging all parties to implement resolution 2510 about Berlin conference conclusions.

Since early Friday, Haftar’s militias started launching heavy artillery attacks on civilian neighborhoods in Tripoli and on Mitiga Airport as well as areas like Abu Salim, Souq Al-Jumua, Ain Zara and Garabulli.
