The UN Secretary-General António Guterres has expressed his desire to appoint Hanna Serwaa Tetteh as his Special Representative for Libya and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) to succeed Abdoulaye Bathily.
Tetteh has held several positions in the UN during the years 2022 and 2024 when she was assigned as the Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, and the Secretary-General’s Special Representative to the African Union during the period between 2018 and 2020.
Tetteh also headed the Prime Minister of her country between 2014 and 2015, in addition to her assignment to the Ghanaian Ministry of Foreign Affairs between 2013 and 2017.
