Haftar’s militias mobilizing in and around Sirte, Libya’s Army spokesman says

The spokesman for the Libyan Army under the Government of National Accord (GNA) Mohammed Gununu has confirmed that the GNA’s intelligence unit has monitored the movement of armed convoys coming from eastern Libya to Houn in the central region.

Gununu said Saturday that the armed convoys contained Sudanese Janjaweed fighters as well as mercenaries from Syria and Russian Wagner Group.

“They were using 112 military vehicles with ammunition and military backup for Khalifa Haftar’s terrorist militias in the area.” Gununu added.

He also said that Haftar’s terrorist militias have been recruiting hundreds of Janjaweed and Chadian militias in a training camp in Zallah after they had set up checkpoints in eastern Sirte and up to Jufra then all the way to south Sabha.

Gununu indicated that they had also depicted the arrival of 70 military armed vehicles as well as ammunition-laden pickup trucks to Janjaweed mercenaries in Sirte over the last hours.
