The House of Representatives’ (HoR) government welcomed in a statement the decisions of the HoR to renew confidence in its cabinet, calling on the judicial authorities, including the Supreme Judicial Council and the Office of the Attorney General, to implement the decisions of the HoR.
The government called on friendly countries and regional and international organizations to engage with the “decisions of the Libyan people” and respect their will as well as to support their legitimate institutions.
It also urged foreign embassies and representatives of international and regional organizations to respect the decisions of the HoR and refrain from any action that violates Libyan legitimacy, stressing its commitment to all international and regional agreements and treaties.
Khalifa Haftar has also welcomed the decision of the HoR regarding the title and duties of the Chief Commander of the Libyan Army being regained by the HoR.
The HoR voted on Tuesday to end the term of the Government of National Unity and consider the HoR-designated government the legitimate one until a unified government is chosen, with the transfer of the title and duties of the Chief Commander of the Army to the HoR instead of the Presidential Council.
