HCS Deputy President discusses Maghreb Union affairs with Arab Maghreb Union Secretary-General and Moroccan House of Councillors

First Deputy President of the Libyan High Council of State (HCS), Masoud Obeid, and his accompanying delegation met with Dr. Tayeb Bakoush, Secretary-General of the Arab Maghreb Union, and members of the General Secretariat on Thursday at the Union’s headquarters in Rabat, Morocco.

The two delegations discussed all matters related to union affairs, given that Libya is currently the head of the Maghreb Union. Obeid expressed his readiness to preside over the Council’s efforts in cooperation with relevant authorities to find solutions to the obstacles facing the Union as an embodiment of the political will of Maghreb countries.

The delegation also met with the Chairman of the Moroccan House of Councillors, Al-Naim Mayara, on Friday at the House of Councillors headquarters. During this meeting, Obeid offered his deepest condolences to the King, government and the people of Morocco for their losses in the recent earthquake.

The meeting discussed ways to develop relations between Libya and Morocco and studied the possibility of training Libyan parliamentary cadres in Morocco and developing them. The head of the Libyan delegation also took this opportunity to congratulate Morocco on winning the right to host and organize the anticipated 2030 World Cup tournament alongside Spain and Portugal.
