Head of Libya’s High Council of State slams Egyptian initiative as “filled with fallacies”

The Head of the High Council of State (HCS) Khalid Al-Mishri said the recent victories made by the Libyan Army forces will lead to the full control of the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) on the entire country.

Al-Mishri added on Wednesday in televised statement that the Egyptian initiative for solution in Libya contained a lot of mistakes and fallacies, saying that they were not mentioned in the Libyan political agreement.

Al-Mishri also said that the Egyptian initiative’s dangerous terms are related to the formation of an electoral community in every region in Libya, which would further complicate the Libyan crisis.

He indicated that Khalifa Haftar would have no place in the future of Libya, rather he should be tried at courts.

“We have been surprised by the statements of the Tunisian President Kais Saied in Paris. What he said about the legitimacy of the GNA being an international one only is baseless as the GNA came after months of dialogue among Libyan parties.” Al-Mishri added.

He also talked about the Libyan constitution, saying it cannot be drafted by tribes but rather by an authority elected by the Libyan people., saying any calls for dialogue among Libyans that are be based on anything rather than the Libyan Political Agreement’s legitimacy will be rejected.

Speaking about El Sisi’s threats, Al-Mishri said that the Egyptian President doesn’t have the right to draw red lines on Libyan soil.

“Our road map for the future of Libya is taking control of the entire country to hold all those who were involved in attacking civilians accountable in fair trials and then carry out a referendum for the constitution then general elections.” Al-Mishri explained.
