Head of Libya’s Presidential Council, Palestinian President discuss Gaza developments

The Libyan Presidential Council’s Head, Mohammed Menfi, discussed with the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, the latest developments in Gaza amid the continued Israeli strikes that have ongoing for over two weeks.

Menfi and Abbas met on the sidelines of the peace summit in Cairo on Saturday and discussed the urgent needs of the Palestinian people in Gaza as well as the Palestinian authority’s vision for a just and peaceful solution after the Israeli aggression.

Delivering a speech at the summit, Menfi called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and an end to the Israeli plans to moves forces into Gaza for a ground combat operation. He called for an end to the massacres committed by the Israelis in Gaza, urging the world to have a unified stance to end the aggression.

“Libya is against the attempts of the Israelis to displace Gazans from their homes and land. The occupation forces must adhere to international laws and stop these ongoing violations.” Menfi added.

Leaders and top officials from more than a dozen countries gathered in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, for a conference to discuss ways to what they said attempts to “deescalate the Israel-Hamas war amid growing fears of a wider Middle East conflict.”

The attendees included representatives from France, Germany, Russia, China, the United Kingdom, the United States, the United Nations and the European Union.
