Interior Minister slams Egypt’s Parliamentary approval to send troops to help Haftar in Libya

The Libyan Interior Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA) Fathi Bashagha has warned Khalifa Haftar’s backers that they are “supporting a failing military coup that is denounced by all Libyans and that has only caused destruction and death”.

On Twitter, Bashagha said – commenting on the Egyptian Parliament’s mandate to El-Sisi to send troops to Libya for their so-called national security – the GNA blames the countries backing up Haftar for the deterioration of status quo in Libya.

Bashagha added on Tuesday that history won’t be merciful when it writes what the countries supporting Haftar did in Libya, adding that Libyans of this generation and the upcoming ones will exact justice on those countries.

The Egyptian Parliament approved Monday sending armed forces on combat missions abroad, especially on the western borders – hinting at Libya and of course at more support for Haftar’s militias – in what they said an aim to protect national security.
