IOM releases stats regarding migrants crossing the Mediterranean from Libya

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has reported that 202 illegal immigrants were intercepted in the Mediterranean and returned to Libya between October 15th and 21st. The organization added that among the migrants were 10 children and 34 women who were rescued during three separate operations.

According to the statistics published by IOM, the total number of migrants who were returned to Libya from the beginning of the year until October 21st reached 12,635, while the number of those who died in the Mediterranean waters reached 933 migrants, in addition to the missing persons, who were around 1,233 migrants.

The statistics also revealed that the number of male immigrants was estimated at 9,015, while the number of women reached 830. More than 410 registered children were among those returned to Libya.
