Itamilradar: New aircraft arrives from UAE to Benghazi via Jordan with possible arms and ammo cargo

Itamilradar website, which is specialized in monitoring military aircraft, said it had depicted and tracked Saturday morning a flight from UAE to Benghazi.

Itamilradar said the Zetavia Ilyushin Il-76TD (UR-CIG) departed from Aqaba, Jordan, after a brief stop, adding that it departed initially from Abu Dhabi Friday night around 05:00 CET.

“The aircraft is now back to Jordan and probably to UAE. We have no track about its departure airport but probably is Benghazi or an airfield in eastern Libya.” Itamliradar said.

The website added that this is the third flight in three days on this route for the Ilyushin aircraft, which is known as a military cargo plane.

“We don’t know the nature of the flight, but the suspicion is that these flights carry arms and ammunition to Libya, effectively violating the UN embargo which, at the moment, seems to be not respected by either party in the conflict.” Itamilradar said.

It is worth mentioning that the UAE is running an airbase in eastern Libya (Al-Khadim Airbase) in which it operates different missions for Khalifa Haftar’s forces, including drone attacks, according to UN and international reports.
