Journalist Al-Sanussi released after three days of detention

The Public Prosecution released journalist Ahmed Al-Sanussi on Sunday evening, three days after his arrest and detention by the Internal Security Agency, which didn’t announce an official reason for his arrest.

Al-Sanussi’s release by the Public Prosecution came after he was referred to it by the Internal Security Agency in Tripoli, earlier on Sunday.

The Internal Security Agency detained the journalist last Thursday for publishing documents related to corruption cases in the Ministry of Economy and Trade of the Government of National Unity.

The detention of the journalist was widely condemned in Libya by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, the US Embassy, the European Union Mission to Libya, and a number of political figures, activists, and civil society organizations, all of which called for his immediate release.
