Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi announced on Wednesday that he had agreed with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to “turn the page on the protracted crisis in Libya by holding presidential and parliamentary elections simultaneously.”
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi arrived in Ankara on Wednesday on an official visit to Turkey; the first of its kind in more than 12 years.
El Sisi stressed, during a joint press conference with Erdogan in Ankara, the necessity of “the exit of illegal foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya, and ending the presence of armed militias.”
He said that such actions would end the manifestations of division and achieve security as well as stability in Libya.
El Sisi also explained that an agreement was reached with Turkey to carry out consultations between the institutions of the two countries to achieve security and political stability in Libya.
