Libya confirms first Coronavirus case amid calls for self-isolation

The Libyan National Center for Disease Control has recorded the first positive novel Coronavirus case in Libya after doing tests for a 73-year-old man in Tripoli.

The Director of the National Center for Disease Control Badr Eldeen Najjar told Libya Alahrar TV Tuesday night that the Coronavirus case had returned to Libya from Saudi Arabia on March 05 via Tunisia.

Najjar added that the man was admitted to quarantine in a Tripoli hospital and his condition was stable, saying they will contact all those whom the case was close to in order to isolate them in quarantines.

Meanwhile, the Libyan Health Ministry and government authorities have reiterated the need for all Libyans to stay at home and to self isolate amid the ongoing fears of a Coronavirus outbreak.
