The Head of the Tunisian Observatory for Human Rights, Mustafa Al-Kabir, has confirmed that the Tunisian authorities received on Friday four women (wives) and five children of ISIS fighters from the Libyan authorities.
Al-Kabir told Mosaique FM that the handover process took place through Ras Ajdair border crossing and was preceded by the receipt of 6 children in 2020, who were received at the time by Tunisian President Kais Saied, followed by the return of another group of children from Libya and the Syrian-Turkish border.
He added that the women who arrived in Tunisia from Libya had been acquitted by the Libyan judiciary, indicating that the process of returning them was carried out by the security units in a first stage, and the Public Prosecution had been reviewing their rights, while the final verdict would be for the Tunisian judiciary.
Al-Kabir has revealed that the number of Tunisian women remaining in Libyan prisons is around 15, adding that their sentences range from 6 to 16 years in prison. He indicated that there is also a group of children in prison.
