The National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) announced that it had taken urgent measures for international health control offices at all border entrances, raising the state of alert and readiness amid the outbreak of monkeypox (Mpox).
The African Center for Disease Control announced a state of health emergency in the entire African continent after the increase in Mpox cases in 16 countries so far, as the disease entered some countries for the first time.
It announced in a statement raising the state of alert and readiness for the monitoring and rapid response network throughout the country, as well as ensuring the readiness of community health laboratories and the community health emergency room to follow up on the situation and report any suspected cases for the safety of everyone.
The NCDC reassured everyone that so far no cases had been recorded in Libya and confirmed the readiness of all departments to confront this disease as well as take all necessary measures for the safety of citizens and residents.
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared Mpox a global public health emergency on Wednesday for the second time in two years, after the viral outbreak spread from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to neighboring countries.
According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as of August 4, 38,465 cases of Mpox, including 1,456 deaths, have been recorded in Africa since January.
