Libya to appoint ambassador in Damascus soon, State Minister tells Al-Sharaa

The Government of National Unity (GNU) announced on Saturday the arrival of a delegation in Syria to discuss strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the political, economic and security fields.

The delegation included Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs Walid Al-Lafi, Minister of Labor Ali Al-Abed, and Director of Military Intelligence Major General Mahmoud Hamza, while they were received by the Leader of the new Syrian administration Ahmed Al-Sharaa, according to a statement by Hakomitna media platform.

The statement said that Al-Lafi conveyed the greetings of Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah to the Syrian leadership and people during the meeting, stressing the support of the Syrian people and its position in support of their rights and freedom.

The Government of National Unity said the delegation discussed the dangers witnessed by the region and issues of common interest that contribute to achieving regional security and stability, while the two parties stressed the importance of developing mechanisms for joint work and enhancing dialogue to serve the common interests of the Libyan and Syrian peoples
